Manuel Hernandez-Pajares was born on 12-11-1962, in Valverde de Leganes, Badajoz, Spain. He received his degree in Physics in 1985, and his Ph.D. in Astronomy in 1990, both at the Univ. of Barcelona, Spain. He is presently a Full Professor at the Technical Univ. of Catalonia (UPC), Barcelona, working in new algorithms for precise atmospheric sounding and satellite navigation using GPS and GALILEO data, in collaboration with his gAGE/UPC colleagues Miguel Juan and Jaume Sanz. He has been the chair and product coordinator of the International GNSS Service (IGS) Ionosphere WG since 2002 until 2007, and the Principal Investigator of more than 20 national and international scientific projects (many of them funded by ESA in competitive calls). He has published about 50 papers in peer reviewed journals, 150 papers in meeting proceedings, and he is co-authoring 15 patents and three GPS processing books. He is reviewer of 10 journals in the field and he has chaired several international meetings. He has been associate editor in IEEE TGARS and Radio Science journals, and belongs to working groups in IGS, ESA, and IAGG.
